Dianova Italy, Dianova International and the Department of Special Needs Education (University of Ghent-Belgium) cordially invite you to the:

The Therapeutic Community Model:
a Tool for Empowerment

22nd/23rd September 2016 - Rome (Italy)
Libera Università Maria Ss. Assunta
Department of Human Studies

P.zza delle Vaschette, 101

This year’s EWODOR symposium will be dedicated to acquiring a better understanding of the empowerment process that takes place in the therapeutic community (TC) model of treatment for addictive disorders.

The concept of empowerment is embedded in the TC model of treatment, based on reciprocal respect and grounded on the idea that people empower themselves, while professionals and peers are there to assist them in doing so.

We will take a closer look on the driving forces underlying the empowerment process in TCs through its tools, processes, strategies, means and its further repercussions. We will take a closer look on the age, gender and family implications and on the prison and court situations.

The EWODOR symposium will present qualitative and quantitative research, updated reports on countries’ strategies as well as historical, philosophical and social contributions relevant to this theme from a theoretical point of view.

The symposium is for post-graduate researchers and PhD students, and professionals in the field of substance abuse treatment and intervention in the criminal justice system.

The Symposium will be documented by Redattore Sociale, a press agency dedicated to inform about the discomfort and social commitment in Italy and around the world.
